What to put on your CV instead of work experience

Work experience is one section of a CV, not the only one. These sections can carry a first CV. Skills

Projects

School, university, or personal projects. For example, "Worked with three classmates to create a marketing plan and present the findings."

Volunteering and activities

Volunteering, clubs, sports teams, student societies, or regular responsibilities in your community.

Courses and certifications

Online courses and certificates you have completed.

A short summary

Two or three sentences. For example, "Recent school graduate looking for a first retail job. Comfortable working with customers, organizing activities, and learning new software."
